We care where it comes from. And where it goes
We pick the people we work with partly on this, so a lot of it's handled before anything reaches us. The rest is on us. Surplus food goes out through Too Good To Go rather than the bin, and our cups and containers are made from plants, not plastic, so they compost. We won't pretend we've got it all worked out. We just try to buy well and throw away little.

From Australia to London
Chelsea grew up on the Gold Coast and moved to London with one complaint: nowhere did brunch the way home did. So she started in her own kitchen, baking banana bread and delivering it to local cafés by bicycle. What started on two wheels became District.
However much District grows, that's what we carry: the warmth Australia does best, real pride in the craft, and the kind of place you don't rush to leave.

Come for the coffee and stay for the community.
What we are all about
Your neighbourhood cafe & bar.
Come in for a flat white, stay for lunch, drop back for a drink. Three sites across South West London. Each one's got its own regulars, and its own feel.
Why the name? A district is a patch of a city with its own character, its own regulars, its own rhythm. We wanted to be part of one, not just sit in it.
Ours current areas are Parsons Green, Nine Elms and Battersea Park, and we're glad to be in it.
Which ever you choose come and be a part the locals in your neighbourhood.

Our Sites

The OG. District Parsons Green is where it all started: a fast-paced takeaway coffee shop on Parsons Green Lane, SW6. Speciality coffee and brunch, in or to go, and a community of regulars we're proud of and work hard to build at every District.
Nine Elms is the big room, built for a proper brunch and room to spread out. Through summer the grill comes out front for BBQ Fridays, and cocktails are £6 across the weekend.
Battersea Park is open all day, a short walk from the park itself. Coffee and brunch in the morning. By evening the room fills up: natural wine, cocktails and small plates, and local live music the first Friday of the month.
The Coffee
Our coffee's from Origin, roasted down in Porthleven on the Cornish coast. They buy direct from the growers and some of it crosses the Atlantic by sail. Not for the romance: wind-powered cargo cuts shipping emissions by up to 95% against a container ship, part of Origin's push to carbon neutral.
The house bean, Mariano, takes its name from a farm in Minas Gerais where the Junqueira family have grown coffee for nearly eighty years and look after the people who pick it like their own. Felt like the right name to put on the menu.
How do you like your coffee? Come in often and we'll get to know you, maybe not by name but definitely your coffee order. That's the whole point of a regular spot.

The Food
A lot of what's good on the menu, you can thank Derek from Samson Quality Produce for. He's our local fresh produce supplier, and he pops in every morning with whatever's best that day, so we tend to build the specials around what he's brought rather than the other way round.
The bread and pastries turn up the same kind of early, baked overnight by Layers over in E14 and still warm when they land. The milk and butter come from The Estate Dairy in Cheshire, unhomogenised, with the cream still in.
Whatever you're eating, we can tell you what's in it and where it's from.

From Australia to London
Meet Chelsea | Founder
Born and bred on Australia’s Gold Coast, Chelsea has always dreamt of bringing the tasty “Aussie style” brunch culture to London through simple quality food, speciality coffee and a warm welcome.
From humble beginnings, the journey first started in Chelsea’s kitchen, where she baked her banana bread for local cafes and delivered them on her bicycle.

"At District, we aim to create the kind of coffee shop we’d want to visit ourselves—friendly, welcoming, and full of good vibes. Inspired by the Australian spirit, we serve specialty coffee, delicious brunch, and healthy smoothies, all while fostering a space where our local community can come together"
